Draytek GlobalView box imageFirst Base Walsall has recently joined the YMCA Black Country Group, for which Smarter Technologies provides IT support. Smarter Technologies was asked to assist when users of their Internet café and IT suite were unable to access web sites. After investigation a failed proxy server was found. The main purpose of the proxy server was to provide web content filtering to ensure the web safety of the users of the café and IT suite.

How We Helped

First Base Walsall uses a DrayTek broadband router which has the capability to provide web content filtering through the use of the GlobalView service.  An annual license for GlobalView, which costs less then £50, was supplied and installed to restore web content filtering at around 10% of the cost of using a dedicated proxy server.
